Helios Mousepad
Glorious PC Gaming has made a name for themselves In the PC gaming peripherals and accessories market. Whereas a Logitech or Razer try to target the gaming market as a whole, Glorious PC Gaming Race targets PC gaming enthusiasts. Doing so allows them to actually listen and Implement what the hardcore PC enthusiasts want, which leads us to the latest product In their mousepad lineup. The Glorious Helios mousepad.
What’s so special about the Helios Mousepad?
If you’ve been In the market looking for a hard mousepad, you may have noticed something about pretty much all the current offerings. They are all small.
Here are a few examples:
Mousepad | Width | Length | Price |
---|---|---|---|
SteelSeries QCK Hard | 10.8 in / 270 mm | 12.6 in / 320 mm | $29.99 |
Razer Destructor 2 | 10.04 in / 255 mm | 13.98 in / 355mm | $39.99 |
Logitech G440 | 13.38 in / 340mm | 11 in / 280mm | $29.99 |
How does this stackup against the new Glorious Helios Mousepad?
Mousepad | Width | Length | Price |
---|---|---|---|
Glorious Helios Large | 11 in / 280 mm | 13 in / 330 mm | $14.99 |
Glorious Helios XL | 16 in / 406 mm | 18 in / 457 mm | $19.99 |
No matter how you look at It, the Glorious Helios Mousepad Is a better value than Its competition In terms of size and price.
Sensor and Tracking Performance
A large hard mousepad Is not any good If your mouse can’t properly track on It. Luckily for you I’m a mouse junkie who has quite the collection of gaming mice 🙂 These are the mice I have tested on the Helios Mousepad;
- Logitech G Pro Wireless
- Logitech G305
- Logitech G Pro
- Razer Deathadder Elite
- Razer Deathadder Essential
- Razer Basilisk
- Razer Mamba
- SteelSeries Rival 310
- SteelSeries Rival 600
- SteelSeries Rival 110
- Roccat Kone Pure Owl-Eye
Every mouse I have tested on the Helios has had flawless tracking, which was something I was worried about before the Helios arrived. Kudos to Glorious for having a well optimized tracking surface that works across a variety of different sensors.
Glide
Having a smooth consistent glide Is essential to any gaming mousepad. You would think that every mousepad should excel In this category, but many actually fall short.
This usually comes down to manufacturing Issues such as the mousepad not completely flattening out, Inconsistencies In the weaving/texture that makes one area glide good while another area doesn’t, and small bubbles/Indents that can make your swipes feel Inconsistent.
Glorious thankfully passes all these test, and the surface of the Helios Is 100% consistent. The Helios Is definitely a speed mousepad. If you’re not a fan of very fast gaming mousepads, I would recommend taking a look at their cloth mousepad lineup.
They have 6 different sizes to fit any PC gamers needs. I actually came from their XXL Cloth mousepad, and can highly recommend It to anyone wanting a new cloth pad.
Looks/Aesthetic
The Glorious Helios Mousepad Is a looker ( ͡☉ ͜ʖ ͡☉). Coming In at only 0.5mm thick (wow!), the Helios Is sure to be a good looking addition to every setup.

Non-slip Base
The adhesive non-slip base ensures that no matter how hard you swipe/flick your mouse, your mousepad Is not going to be sliding around. Seriously, this thing sticks to your desk like glue, yet Is easy to remove.
Really the only con I can see to the silicone adhesive base they used Is longevity. If you’re planning on having the Helios mousepad be a permanent fixture on your desk, than all Is good and you shouldn’t have any Issues. What worries me Is If you change the Helios’s position on your desk a few times, or have to remove the Helios mousepad to try out another mousepad, It might lose It’s strong fresh grip.
Is a Hard Mousepad Right For Me?
Everything In the PC gaming accessories/peripherals market Is all personal preference. You don’t really know If you’re going to like something until you try It, no matter what a review says. My review of the Helios mousepad Is subjective.
I can however say If you’ve been feeling like your mouse movements are too slow using your current cloth pad, and want an easier time gliding around the pad, you might enjoy playing on the Helios. At Its price point, there really Isn’t a reason not to try It If you’ve been curious.
Glorious Helios Review
Here Is a simple and short video review I did giving my first Impressions when I first got the mousepad.
Final Thoughts
If you’ve been In the market for a hard gaming mousepad, look no further. There really Isn’t another hard mousepad I could recommend over the Glorious Helios Mousepad. It beats every single other hard pad out there. It’s cheaper than all the current offerings, bigger than all the current offerings, and It’s coming from a company that actually listens to Its community and creates what the people want.
I’m excited to try out their new Glorious Odin gaming mice on the Helios that will be releasing Q1 of this year.
thanks for the review! think i’m going to be getting my first hard mousepad soon!
